Ashampoo Snap is one of those games that look and sound quite a lot like Windows Live Mesh, yet both share much of the same code. Ashampoo Snap has the ability to share your screen with friends and display live tiles, allowing you to share your tile on the fly or save them in a photo album. Ashampoo Snap also makes it easy to capture video and stills and make GIFs, but the program's stability issues stop it from snatching your monitor-grabbing utility crown.
Ashampoo Snap does everything that Windows Live Mesh did, but it doesn't have all the extra features or the huge list of tiles. It also runs much slower than the mesh, and it lacks the cool customizable widgets. This game may look similar to Windows Live Movie Maker, but it works very differently and is more lacking when it comes to creativity. If you are looking for a software screen capture tool that allows you to easily capture your screen, use this one. However, if you really want something more creative and with customizable widgets, try Windows Movie Maker.
Ashampoo Snap appears to be very similar to Windows Live Movie Maker and other similar programs like Story Studio, Paint Shop Pro, or Corel Draw. But because it's free for non-commercial usage, I wouldn't recommend using it for any business purposes. The fact that it runs slow and crashes too often is enough of a deterrent. If you want screen-capture software with lots of customizable widgets, check out Windows Movie Maker, as it's a more advanced and creative screen capture tool.
